The limbic system includes a wide range of brain regions, such as the piriform cortex, entorhinal zone, circuitous gyrus, cingulate gyrus, lower corpus callosum, hippocampus, insula, bony pole, amygdala group, septal area, preoptic area, The hypothalamus, hippocampus, and mammillary body belong to the limbic system. The main part of the limbic system forms a closed loop around the inside of the two hemispheres of the brain, hence its name. There are also extensive connections between the interconnected limbic systems and other parts of the nervous system. It participates in the regulation of sensory and visceral activities and is closely related to psychological activities such as emotion, behavior, learning and memory.
